Walk for Wildlife

Only 5 kilometres long, this family-friendly trail snakes through the bush, following the route of the Hoedspruit Run. Once the sun has dipped away the moon will show its face, boasting breathtaking views of the stunning night sky throughout the walk and if you’re lucky you will even spot some interesting night animals! A truly unique experience which you can enjoy with friends, and family. 

Don't miss out on our biggest event of the year! Registration will open at 17h30, and close at 18h20. Following a short briefing we aim to set off no later than 18h30.

As this is a full moon walk, there will be no artificial lighting provided along the route. Should we be unlucky on the night and is overcast then we highly advise that you bring a torch and if it rains, bring an umbrella. (We will only cancel due to rain if it is a heavy shower, make sure to follow our Facebook Event page for updates)

This is a family friendly event, however, please note that due to the walk being held on a bush trail, it is not suitable for push chairs. Please ensure that any children joining the event are able to walk the full 5km, or that a parent or guardian can carry them throughout the 5km trail.

All children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

We regret no dogs allowed.

Make sure you are on time: For safety reasons, late comers will not be able to participate once the last participant has left the starting line.

We anticipate the walk to take approximately an hour to an hour and a half, but how quickly you finish is up to you! Remember, this is not a race, but runners are welcome and will be allowed to start first.

Walk Entry Fees: 

Adults - R60 each 

Children (<10) - R30 each 

Cash is preferred. Card facilities will be available on the day for an additional fee of R5 per swipe to cover charges.

All funds raised will directly benefit all Scales Conservation Fund Projects, including ReWild Rehabilitation Centre, Pangolin Rescue Fund and Kogelberg Biosphere Wildlife Rescue.

Please bring extra cash for our pop-up bar along the route. There will be two water points with FREE water available as well as a selection of cool drinks, beer, cider and spirit coolers available to purchase. (CASH ONLY)
