THE COMMON-SENSE RULE:

This tournament is in the name of fun, competition & charity. Our goal is to host a fun, fair and balanced competition. With that said, if any of the rules need altering to ensure the safety of all our anglers, we reserve the right to alter them at any time and without formal notice. To stay up to date with rules, prizes and general information please refer to https://www.scales.org.za/event-details/bait-for-the-cause-fishing-competition

Klaserie Dam is a nature area, and such be treated with respect. Any persons found disrespecting the environment in any way will be removed.

COMPETITION RULES:

This competition is catch and release ONLY!

Equipment:

Anglers are responsible for providing all necessary equipment to fish in the tournament (fishing pole/rod, fishing line, bait, hooks, etc).

Watercraft:

This tournament is strictly casting only.

Fish caught while wading or walking the 'shoreline' are eligible for submission.

The use of watercrafts and bait boats is not allowed for the purpose of the competition.

Scoring:

We are using the “Catch-Measure-Photo-Release” method.

That is once you catch the fish, use a digital camera or smart phone to take a photo of the fish on the official measuring mat, then release the fish back to the water. For approved measuring devices go to the “Photo Rules” located below.

Entries are to be logged by sending photos of your catches via WhatsApp to 078 993 5678 with your unique entry number.

Or the photographic device can be brought to the registration tent to be entered and recorded manually with your unique entry number.

You may log as many entries as you wish, but only submit one photo per fish.

The unique measuring mat must be present in the photo to qualify for scoring in all categories.

All fish must be released back into the dam alive.

The tournament officials will review all photos to verify validity and length of fish for determining place winners.

Standards of Measuring:

Fish are scored based on length.

There is a 15cm minimum length for fish to be eligible.

The fish nose or lip must be touching the front of the official measuring mat, and this must be visible in the picture.

The tail must lay naturally, and the mouth can be open or closed.

The fish must be on the official measuring mat with the measuring scale beyond the tail shown in the photo. Be sure the longest point of the tail is laying over the measuring scales mark, so it is visible in the picture.

Be sure your picture is clear before letting the fish go in case you need to take multiple pictures in order to submit a clear picture. Anglers must only submit one photo per fish.

Submitted fish measuring the same length must have distinct differences in appearance or the entry maybe discounted towards your quantity competition total, or in repeat offences the angler may be disqualified.

Lengths will be rounded to the nearest centimetre.

General Scoring Rules:

All photo submissions must be submitted by the deadline to be included in the tournament. (See Schedule above for times)

The deadline time means the time your photos are received by the tournament officials, not the time your fish was caught, or your picture was sent. Do not wait until the last minute to submit and assume the officials have your photos.

You will receive a reply “Submission Approved” on any images submitted once your entry has been received, quality checked, qualified, and entered.

Ties will be viewed by officials and if they can be broken by looking at how the fish were rounded, the officials will place the competitors accordingly. If there is still a tie, it will be broken by the best of three Rock/Paper/Scissors officiated by tournament officials.

ELIGIBLE FISH:

For the largest fish category, anglers can score on the length of a Carp, Bass or Barbel caught at Klaserie Dam during tournament times and providing photos are submitted before the deadline.

For the most fish caught category, any species of fish measuring 15cm or above may be counted towards your total as long as it was caught at Klaserie Dam during tournament times and the photos submitted before the deadline.

For the cumulative length category, any species of fish measuring 15cm or above may be counted towards your total as long as it was caught at Klaserie Dam during tournament times and the photos submitted before the deadline.

ELIGIBLE FISHING METHODS:

ALL FISH MUST BE CAUGHT:

· Alive on a conventional rod and reel in a sporting manner.

· Artificial lures, live/dead baits and scents may be used during the competition.
